Easy to replace old kitchen sink?

Our kitchen sink tap needs replacing - it's leaking and not worth repairing. So I thought why not also get a new stainless steel sink fitted. Our old steel sink is 51cm deep x 86cm wide. I've seen a 1&half bowl sink that I'd like (or would I, do I need an extra half bowl?!) but it's slightly bigger 53cm x 88cm. Is it easy to replace the old sink - leaving the worktop in situ?

Yes it’s relatively straightforward you
Will need to make the hole bigger for the sink to fit in and then plumb it in . I love a 1.5 bowl sink it makes life much easier .

I think it would have to be perfect match as the worktop would have been cut for the sink.. have you tried eBay? They have a lot more options than b&q when I did the same previously

I wasn't sure how easy it is to cut the worktop in situ, but I suppose it was originally cut fitted.

1&half bowl sink and new tap it is.

Any tap recommendations? :)

It’s easy to cut if it’s a laminate or wood worktop. If it’s something bespoke, then it might not be possible to just cut a bigger opening out in situ.

In terms of taps, mine is a Grohe. It’s a very sturdy brand often found in hotels etc.

Thanks @JoJoSM2 I'll have a look at Grohe taps, the Franke one with the sink is fairly naff.

We did this recently, we bought a sink with a cut out slightly larger than our old one and was hoping to do it with the worktop left in situ, unfortunately the way the old sink was clipped in it was too difficult so DH had to remove the worktop which involved removing a couple of tiles. Luckily he managed to replace everything and the sink fitted and it all looks lovely now. Just be prepared that it may not go completely smoothly but should be ok in the end and the job may take longer than anticipated. We bought a Rangemaster sink from Wayfair and kept the original tap
