Boring or sensible?

We have recently put an offer in on a house and it's been accepted. Probably too late to realistically do anything about it now, our house is sold and we've had the offer accepted, but I just can't shake the feeling that it's a bit 'boring'. It's just a house and not a whole lot more.

DP on the other hand loves it. It's in a good area, walking distance to a top high school where DD will go next year and a decent size.

I think it looks great! Lovely kitchen, nice fresh bathroom - the bits which aren't nice are the previous owner's furniture (and taste!) It is a bit bland, but people do that on purpose when selling houses, so that buyers see their future home rather than the seller's current home.

We have a cottage with no character and almost no original features (it was 'modernised' in the 70s Sad ) but by careful choice of furniture, paint colours and quirky accessories, it now gives the impression of a place with heaps of character.

In the same way, you can theme the rooms the way you want to, to make the most of your furniture and show your ornaments/artworks to best advantage. Don't worry - you've made a wise choice, even if it doesn't feel like 'home' yet.

I know this road, not too far from me.
Furniture placement wasn't a skill of the previous owners although it generally looks in good condition.
White paint all over rarely looks good in Scotland. Pick subtle colours you love and paint the whole room.
Turquoise feature wall has to go. The layout looks practical with an older child going to high school.
Good luck!
