How to stop balcony door swinging open in wind!

As per the title really! New build flat with balcony.

when the balcony door is left open and the wind blows, the door will either slam shut or completely wide open, going almost beyond the range of the hinges and they creak and make a horrid noise!

Ive asked the building company and they were pretty useless. Id rather find a cheap and not invasive solution (i.e. no drilling etc) Ive been using an old hair band to tie the door handle to the balcony rail but thats just torn in half in the high winds!

Any ideas welcome!!!

Cabin hooks or these alternatives?

A door stop?

Perhaps one that's intended to be inside, and you can just put it outside when you need to

Possible this type of thing?

Could that work on an outside door? And who would I get to install it? I have one like that on my front door. Will research! Thank you!

Two bricks as doorstops.

Thank you for this..... there’s quite a big gap between the door and the end of the balcony which is why the door swings so wide, so I’m not sure this would work. I need something to both hold the door open plus stop it moving so far back! I did think a hook type thing though.thank you!

Hmmm I think this might be my best non invasive solution..... I’m currently using a plant pot as a makeshift door stop but I wish something exisited that would fit around both edges of the door almost like a heavy sandbag to hold the door open and in place

Oh yes, funnily enough my Aunt was showing me this yesterday , she's using it to keep her french doors open. She's put gravel in the bottom to weight it down then planted it up. It's look really pretty.

I think it would have to be fitted from the inside. My EXDP used them in his work to "slow" down a door as it's closing so no slamming. But they must have a locking mechanism of some sort to stop them going to far. If they haven't I'm going to patent it! Watch out for me on Dragons Den! 😂

Oh I like the purple thingy. They do come in other colours but amazon are sold out so will look around or might go to a garden centre
Thank you

I’m going to do some research. The one on my front door is inside too and works well. Good luck at dragons den! I will want a cut!

Bricks might damage the door? Although I’m currently using a plant pot one side and a chair on the other!

We have this issue too. Have a look at french door restrictors they fit in the door mechanism and stop it flinging open. We never got round to get any after the last high winds. I would get a local window company to fit them. Or wind chains ask came up on my random search! We still use a chair. One day... one day...

Not if they held the door tightly with no room to flap about. I don’t think there’s another non invasive method, of you don’t want to add a hook to the actual door. I’d just try and find two door stops.
