Back garden...around the corner from.the back door we had a shed there got rid of it as falling apart and actually have rehoused shed contents or got rid of so mo need for more storage.

Looks unsightly though...bins look awful as well

You can buy nice bin storage cupboards to screen them.

gamerchick · 20/07/2020 14:09

Planters with a bit of colour in them? Hanging baskets?

CatherinedeBourgh · 20/07/2020 14:12

I would put a trellis planter with a nice climber in it to screen the bins

Pootles34 · 20/07/2020 14:12

If you're handy you could make something like this? That would look nice with some herbs on top.

Zoomintheroom · 20/07/2020 14:13

Screen it off with these and grow plants up. screenwithenvy.co.uk

Pootles34 · 20/07/2020 14:13

Catherine that's a good idea - I've seen them put on castors before now as well, which might be helpful.

CrystalMaisie · 20/07/2020 14:14

I’d paint the fence a different colour for a start, then maybe put a trellis fence panel up to screen the bins and grow something over it, in a planter.

A corner arbour, brightly painted.

They are out of stock at the moment but we got some trellis planters from Argos for £30 each. Painted them a lovely bright blue before putting plants in

Some great ideas I like the idea of the wooden bin box to hide them, also some screens

Any ideas where I can get the wooden bin box thing from?

Robert Dyas do them. Lots if you google. I think small timber manufacturers who make log stores often do bin storage too.

I echo painting the fence. We actually have ours in a very dark grey (Off Black - Farrow and Ball). This paint lasts for years and doesn’t fade. Once you’ve paid the high price for the paint, you can forget about it.

Dark paint is a wonderful foil for plants. Especially green structural ones. I would make this a bower area. So more green plants and make some beds for these. The paving looks fine where it’s newer.

Unless you are at the seaside, I would avoid bright colours. Looks a bit false.

Pootles34 · 21/07/2020 10:36

Agree with the dark paint - ours is a very dark grey, and green looks fabulous against it - as do lights. I think browns and greens for fences are traditional for a big garden in the hopes that they will make the boundary disappear, but in a small garden you've no hope of that.

The only thing is to watch that it can really piss your neighbours off if it drips - ask them first. Ours loved it and did their side too!

We have a custom made bin store, bin one side and room for two recycling boxes the other. Local company but they ship around I think and make whatever size as diff areas have diff bins etc. I found them in Facebook they are called Somerset garden products. I tried to find a pic of mine as he takes photos to put on his page but can’t find it now. I would pop outside to take a photo but I’m wearing Pj’s Grin

Ha!!! I have well over an acre of garden and the one boundary where we have a fence it’s dark grey. It’s just the best colour for the planting scheme.
