I’m having some trouble deciding on the decor/scheme in my new house. The property is Victorian but doesn’t have any original features as it was converted from several smaller properties into one decades ago. The space in question is over three levels for this reason.
I plan to put in french doors where the arch is currently as it’s difficult to heat the space in winter. I would like to make sure the spaces work both separately but also together (or does this not matter so much with french doors in?) but I’m not sure how to do this. I’m not sure what to do with the middle raised space - previous owners had a desk there but I have another room set up as an office.
For the dining room I have envisaged a dark and cosy space with modern panelling, maybe a dark teal colour and rustic furniture. The living room I’d like to be light and airy, fairly modern but relaxed, potentially duck egg (I love Dulux tranquil dawn). Although I stayed in a beautiful log cabin earlier in the year and loved the neutral colours, natural wood and textured fabrics look too so have considered that as well.
I’ve never had to decorate an open space like this so would love some ideas or pointers on how I can make the spaces work separately but together if anyone has any advice for me please? (Please excuse the mess
)
