Dishwasher - Cupboard

Hi

Before I contact a plumber and sound like a grade A plonker, can a dishwasher be fitted into a existing kitchen cupboard.

I’ve got permission from my housing company to fit one and remove inside of cupboard. But I need to retain the outside door. Does anyone know if this is possible?

If so would I need an integrated or freestanding?

Thanks so much in advance

do they not mean you can store the door to be put back on at a later date? In which case it would be a freestanding appliance. Although does a bit of plinth need to be removed too?

It probably wouldn't be possible to keep the cupboard door on, as it wouldn't close. We had all our freestanding appliances built in last year using cupboard carcasses that were sited away from the back wall to leave room for the pipes and give enough room for the cupboard doors to be fitted. We had a worktop built as regular ones were not deep enough.

I did it in a rental. Kept the cupboard door for later. (It was a little one - Bosch "countertop")

I’m also interested in this, we’re buying a place and want to fit a dishwasher ASAP but will be renovating the whole kitchen in a few years so just want to retrofit one into the existing kitchen by removing a cupboard. How do you actually do it?

Yes. A dishwasher is actually the same external side as a cupboard with a door attached and the plinth run in front. As long As the plumbing can be run in, you would remove the 600 unit and then refit the door to the dishwasher.

A 600mm integrated dishwasher is what you need to buy, suggest Bosch.

Thanks everyone

Just make sure there is access to plumbing from the kitchen cupboard you choose, usually not too far from the sink.
