Quooker tap for year or more?

Been told by kitchen designer that most people stop using their quooker after about 9 months when the novelty has worn off. What do people think? Was hoping to get rid of my kettle.

I have Qettle and in my old house had a Franke in my last house. I wouldn't live with out one..have had one for other 5 years.

Highly recommend the Qettle

BillyAndTheSillies · 14/07/2020 12:54

We had our quooker put in during a kitchen renovation over two years ago. Still haven't unpacked the kettle.

I've had my quooker tap for at least 5 years and haven't used a kettle since! I have a lot of family and friends who also have them and we all say we wouldn't be without them!

CheshireCats · 14/07/2020 13:00

I have had a qettle for 18 months. It is genuinely the best thing I've ever purchased for the house. I would never not have a boiling tap now. They are life changing.
I also know of several friends with Quookers - all used daily over several years, and they don't use kettles at all.
Get one- you won't regret it!

Mine was installed in 2012. Never used a kettle since; why would you?

I do think if you’re having a hob against a wall it would be good to get a pan filler if you boil pots of water regularly.

AuntyFungal · 14/07/2020 15:32

I’ve had my Quooker for 11-12 years.

Quooker in old house, Franke as soon as I could put a new kithhen in new house. 8 years and would never go back to a kettle. I'm unsure why having instant hot water would be a novelty that would wear off??

GrumpyHoonMain · 14/07/2020 20:36

It usually takes a burn to put people off but if you design it sensibly it should be ok.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/07/2020 22:38

My friend has one, I could t see the point of it. But I'm very jealous now. He's had it 5 years and he doesn't have a kettle.

VeronicaVanHoopen · 14/07/2020 22:41

2.5 years. Amazing. Would always install one wherever we live now!

Amrythings · 15/07/2020 14:01

My mum's broke, and the sadness and woe, from the woman who didn't want one in the first place, in the week it took for the replacement part to arrive and be fitted, was such that my father was giving us blow by blow updates on WhatsApp

LadyDaisyChain · 15/07/2020 15:05

Wow, thanks everyone. Think I better get one, off to research the various brands!!

My kettle at the moment can boil to 70 or 80 degrees and I do use this every day for herbal tea. I would lose that feature I guess.

I have a proboil 2. Why would anyone stop using it?

The only moan I've got is it's slow when filling up a saucepan with boiling water. First world problems indeed.

BobFleming · 15/07/2020 15:16

We got rid of our kettle as soon as we had the Quooker installed.

Wouldn't be without it. Boiling a kettle seems terribly old fashioned now.

HighlandPeach · 15/07/2020 19:40

They’re amazing. Use boiling water tap every day 10 times a day for 2 years so far. Except for MIL, who thinks that the water from it isn’t hot enough for tea (it is!), so she insists on getting our kettle out of the cupboard whenever she visits 🙄

FourFlapjacksPlease · 15/07/2020 19:44

Best thing in my kitchen and used every day for the past 2 years. Really odd for a kitchen designer to suggest they are a novelty - everyone I know that has one absolutely loves it.

Whenwillthisbeover · 15/07/2020 20:24

I’ve had mine nine years in October and it is still my essential kitchen gadget. It’s had one new spout and two services in all that tome and is used daily for everything from countless cuppas to filling the Mop bucket!

When it finally goes it will be replaced with another. My friend has one that is combined with a tap and does hot and cold tap water, boiling and chilled water and sparking water! - I wouldn’t go that far.

Plumbum99 · 25/08/2020 15:01

The problem with Quookers is that they store water at over 100 degrees. Which makes them in contravention with building regs and the Water Supply (Water Fittings) regulations 1999. All fittings should be approved by an approved testing house and the quookers are not. Personally I would install a unit which has been tested and approved and doesn’t store water at over 100 degrees. www.nhbc.co.uk/Builders/ProductsandServices/TechZone/technical-updates/boiling-water-taps/

Bonkersblond · 25/08/2020 15:13

We have a Hotspot Titanium, love it, wouldn’t be without it, if we moved and found ourselves without one, it would be top of the list to have fitted.

elfofftheshelf · 25/08/2020 17:06

We've had ours for 4 years. Used every day, and as we are moving, I've already checked that our new place has one installed. They're fab.

NotDonna · 25/08/2020 17:07

We’ve had one for 4 years. Love it! No kettle.

TheFaerieQueene · 25/08/2020 17:09

I have a quooker and have done for a number of years. I would be lost without it.

Pipandmum · 25/08/2020 17:10

I love mine after four years. Used several times a day.

Purplewithred · 25/08/2020 17:11

Quooker since about 2014, will never be without one ever again.

Itsrainingatlast · 25/08/2020 17:46

I’ve had one for about eight years. I’m moving house soon and installing one in my new house is one of the first things I will do!
