Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any positive stories of being able to get a mortgage with bad credit. Im looking to remortgage my property to buy out a previous partner with my current partner. He does not have a good credit rating & missed payments on a couple of mobile phone & buy now pay later plans. There is no option of me getting the mortgage on my own for affordability reasons. We have contacted a broker, who has been very helpful, I was just looking to see if anyone else had been successful in this situation.

I did! Had a 10% deposit and bought with partner who had fair credit. Also the rate wasn't too bad from nationwide, I thought I wound have to go to a specialist bad credit lender but didn't in the end, this was 10 years ago tho so not sure how different now

Last year my ex bought on his own and managed to get a mortgage. He had a shocking credit rating! Really surprised me that he was accepted.

There are adverse credit lenders with whom you can expect to pay a higher interest rate with. But it depends on his history,, how old are the late payments? Are there any defaults. Your broker is best placed to help

Some brokers specialise in adverse credit. You would be best contacting one of those. My DH didn't have a great credit record when we bought our house, with some historic defaults, but our broker placed us with a high street lender. One of the more 'forgiving' lenders.
