Ikea kitchen design tips - bodarp grey/green

We’ve got an online appointment this weekend to design an Ikea kitchen. We like the bodarp range. I wondered if anyone had any tips on design process but also if they’ve had an Ikea kitchen fitted and are happy with it. I’ve read various reviews about the fitting being awkward... thank you.

We had an Ikea kitchen fitted in November 2019, it is the Voxtorp dark grey. We are so delighted with it. My biggest tip is make sure your fitter is really good and happy to fit an Ikea kitchen. Apparently they are harder to fit than a standard kitchen. (that is what our fitter said)

We were originally going for DIY kitchens but when we checked out reviews in Which Ikea were very high in the ratings so we decided to take a look. We are so pleased we did.

My other tip would be to buy really good worktops. We bought Mistral worktops and they cost almost as much as the kitchen but it has really made a difference to the overall finish.

That’s so useful thank you so much. Did you do the measuring yourself or did you get someone to do that? Did you go for Ikea appliances too?

Thank you.

We've just bought an Ikea Bodarp kitchen, to be fitted in a couple of months :)

The design process was really easy (although we did this in-store just before lockdown), I've just had an online appointment to verify the design and sort payment. We did do the measuring ourselves, but make sure you're really sure of it. We're having it installed by an independent fitter, as Ikea stipulate you need to have previous kitchen already removed, all water and electrics in the right place, and a skip outside to take packaging etc. We're in a top floor flat, and this just isn't feasible for us - it's cheaper to get one company to do the removal of old kitchen plus waste disposal plus installation, and can be done all in one go rather than trying to sequence.

We have gone for Ikea appliances, mostly as my H wants them all to be fitted (I'm not fussed...), and I'm sure they'll be fine. Again, will be good to have everything done in one go rather than different trades in at different times.

Hope that's a little bit helpful!

We initially did the measuring and our builder double checked. The instore kitchen designers were very helpful.

We only bought the dishwasher from Ikea

Forgot to add, all other appliances AEG, Bosch and Beko are intergrated with no issues.

@4amWitchingHour@doodleygirl

Thank you so much! That’s all so useful.

I don’t trust us to measure so may get someone to do that.

Great that you’ve found the process straightforward.

Thank you again.

Bumping this to ask if anyone has any more experience of the Bodarp kitchen?

@HurryUpPlease1234 Did you get the Bodarp one in the end?

@4amWitchingHour Hopefully yours has been installed by now. How are you finding it?

Thanks
