Talk to me about radiators

We are installing a new heating system and have decided to go all the way and replace the radiators as well as the boiler, cylinder, etc. But I am already confused looking at different types of radiators! How do I know which one to go for? Are there certain brands which are better quality than others? Any in particular that people would recommend? I don't think we want to go for a fancy designer radiator but should we consider them instead of the standard white ones?

Any insight or opinions would be gratefully received!

Someone may have more info but you need to make sure then btu output is correct for each room .

I would suggest talking to your plumber about the requirements as it's based on the size of the rooms etc.

If your have radiators already then you could replace like for like.

We went for the kudox double panel radiators on screwfix as our standards and then had some upright grey radiators for the ones that are on display as they look nicer.

Also consider the pipe work on display. You can get chrome piping which looks nice if you prefer silver to copper.

Acova column radiators (in white). Check the BTUs then order accordingly. Recommended by a structural engineer friend, lots of friends & family have them. They really kick out heat and seem to retain it even when heating goes off.

  1. there are many free websites that help you calculate what output you need according to size of room, glazing, how many exterior walls, height of ceiling etc etc.

  2. then you decide what style you want.

  3. then wait for pigletjohn to help out with more advice :)
