Can someone please recommend some brands & suppliers for LVT vinyl flooring. What to look out for etc

I’m specifically after a dark wood (think dark coffee tones) that can be laid in a herringbone effect.

Are you going to lay it yourself or are you also looking for a floorer to lay it for you?

Some LVT brands are trade only, so you can only get them via tradesmen/tradeswomen.

Here are the LVT brands I've looked at that should be able to be laid in a herringbone effect:

ambiancevinylflooring.co.uk (Not as well known but they do a lot of commercial flooring and reviews I read rate them as quite robust)

www.neobo.com (Formed by the former CEO of Amtico, so very similar sources for the LVT imo)

www.amtico.com (well known - and rivals karndean)

www.karndean.com/en-gb/floors (well known - rivals Amtico)

Thank you - that is so helpful! OH going to lay but he is a trade so may possibly be able to get some that way.

It’s the colour I’m struggling with - im after dark brown wood, but everything I’ve seen so far is oak or grey. Or not available in herringbone pieces.

Any reasonably priced websites? I need 150m2! Thanks

I project managed my parents’ recent extension and they had Amtico Form laid in a herringbone pattern (in ‘Carved Oak’). There are some darker shades in the range: www.amtico.com/flooring/products/product-search/?id=31963

Polyflor

If you do a search you will find quite a few threads about LVT on Mumsnet about the various makes.

Perfect! Would you say once it’s all laid it becomes darker, or lighter iykwim? The samples are really small, trying to imagine the whole floor...

We went with polyflor camaro in our old house and loved it, they do have a herringbone parquet range. They're a bit cheaper than amtico and karndean but we were really happy with it.

@Sunisshining12 Ask your smaller independent floor shops if you can take home their large display boards. You have to return them quite quickly, some ask for a small £10-20 deposit. Makes a huge difference having the large board, you can move it around. See how it looks in different lights etc.

I also have polyflor camaro and it's been great so far. They have a very wide range of options.

It's the fitting that costs, the floor is covered in ply first and it's glued on top

dalrympy · 05/07/2020 11:12

I would say it seems darker now it's down. But I did go for quite a light colour so it doesn't really matter

TLC is worth a look, I bought it because it had the slate effect I wanted but much cheaper. As I was having a first go at laying it myself, I didn’t want it to be a horrendously expensive mistake if I mucked it up. It’s been down 5 years in downstairs loo and is fine.

I also considered Nest which was more reasonable than Karndean etc but was more expensive than TLC

Been thinking about new flooring, for bathroom especially but dining room too. Thanks for the info. Went to Polyflor website and they have a 'visualiser' which is really good and gives a good idea of what the floor will look like, impressed. :)

Great suggestions thanks.

It has to be fit to plywood? I need to check this is the case going directly on to screed - thanks for pointing out re fitting
