Professional snaggers

We are buying a new build in winter, DH will be going away for several months with work within weeks of moving, neither of us have any experience or knowledge of anything to do with such things! So seriously considering a snagger to take the pressure off.

Interested to hear of other people's experiences, if it was worth it, recommendations, costs etc?

I'm getting a professional snagger for my new build. They've come recommended.

www.homesnag.co.uk

It's worth it for their expertise and takes some pressure off with moving into a new home.

Great thank you, have you had a quote? We haven't exchanged yet so don't want to bother companies just yet.

It varies - depends on area, square metres and how many bedrooms the house is.

Example for a new booking in the South East:
www.homesnag.co.uk/south-east-diary.html

Ranges from £349 - up to £549 for South East depending on bedrooms.

Just check your area on their website.

They do different packages - one of them includes a follow-up inspection. So, maybe email them.

Thank you, sorry I thought I'd need to get a quote with all my details to find a price but managed to find how much it would be with that link. Worth it for the piece of mind I think.

Good luck with your move.

My best friend had a professional snagging company do a report on her new build house. I think she said it was £700 for her large 4-bed. They found over 900 defects (some tiny, some serious). It looks like a lovely house, personally I wouldn’t have noticed 2/3rds of the snags found. She’s now had everything fixed by the developer. I think it’s a good investment.

We had one done by housescan it was about as much as a structural survey on an older property. It was really thorough and definitely worth the money.
We didn’t end up buying the property for completely different reasons but would definitely use housescan again.

Thanks both, sounds like it's definitely worth it then.

(Also like the comparison of a survey, we never had to pay for any kind of survey as our mortgage company doesn't charge for new builds, so I will just view it as a survey cost!)
