Kitchen diner lighting help!!!

Hi, I’m looking for some advice please 😊
We have taken the wall down between the kitchen and dining room to make a kitchen diner, we have two nice glass and brass pendants (small ones) over the breakfast bar as well as downlights in the kitchen over the work areas. We need to decide what lighting to have over the dining table. It was previously two downlights and we tried to move them to align with the kitchen ones but there’s a beam in the way šŸ˜•
So we took them out completely and put a pendant fitting in the middle of the room (ie the middle of the dining part of the room). It’s centred but its not over the table and looking at it really bothers me!! It’s literally right at the last quarter of the table.
It will be over the table when we move it for family get togethers, but that’s maybe just once every 1-2 months. What do you think is the best option? Go back to downlights (then it’s not obvious when it’s not centred), keep the pendant but have a hook to hang it on so we have options, move the pendant so it’s over the table most of the time...?
Need to decide today...
Well done if you managed to read through this whole post šŸ˜ and thank you for any replies!!

Hook idea sounds genius.

We had this exact issue, and we moved the light to centre on the dining table (after much disagreement). It’s so much better, and it doesn’t annoy either of us any more. If your room is anything like ours it is well lit enough to be ok with the off centre light

Thank you for replying 😊
We moved the table (dilemma not helped that the window is off centre in the room!) to roughly where we think it will be most of the time and have decided to centre the light fitting on the table.
@Flamingolingo thank you for your advice!

No problem. It’s a fairly recent thing for us too - it was only moved a couple of weeks ago. We couldn’t decide, but the light needs to be where you are eating. Can’t stand not being able to see my food
