Another wood worktop question

I've been reading the other live thread about wood worktops with interest. We'll be fitting one soon, into a sink-free area (so hopefully avoiding any water-related marking issues), and I've been wondering about oils and how they change the colour of the wood.

The flooring for the room in question will be a weathered oak LVT, which is a lovely mellow colour, and I'm really worried about ending up with an orange toned worktop after it's been oiled, and the two clashing terrible.

How can I avoid that happening? If I go for the Osmo oil everyone has been recommending, will that change the colour?

We've always used Danish oil and its never made and difference to the colour of our oak worktop.

Basically any oil will "fire" the grain, similar to if you splashed water on to bare wood. It will be a richer colour but should not be actually orange unless the wood is underlying orange tone (like old red pine). Varnish OTOH can age to an orange colour and UV light tends to darken wood over the years.

Osmo do a "raw" finish oil which I think reduces this effect but I'd want to test first. I have oiled some plain oak doors and they basically just come out a neutral mid oak colour.
