Does this sound right for movers costs? I’m clueless.

Moving from midlands to South Wales (3hr drive) and have been quoted 2k to move 3 bed semi’s worth of stuff.

Does this sound about right or expensive? I’ve never used movers before and I was shocked but maybe I’m being naive?

We paid £850 to be packed and moved 8 miles away.

Sounds ok to me. We moved (abroad) with a packed one bed's worth of stuff two years ago, paid around 2.5k for full packing including insurance etc. A year later moved a couple of miles up the road and did it all ourselves apart from the heavy furniture. First move, piece of cake but we had loads of crap in our new place. Second move, took me about six months to recover but our new house is so tidy, I know where everything is and we have no boxes of crap lurking in corners etc. It is a much calmer place to live. But my god it was hard doing it ourselves!
