Bonkers Covid diy

Is anyone else suffering from neighbours non stop diy during lock down?

I have been working from home and have need struggling with the constant noise of power tools. I have just looked into my neighbours garden to discover they are building a four foot high deck tight up against our boundary fence🤯.

They are very concerned about privacy and have been very angry when i have pruned overhanging branches. Their deck, or platform, is now about five feet away from my living room window! They will be able to watch my tv😂😂😂.

What are your bonkers neighbours getting up to in lock down.

If they're building a raised decking they need planning permission which you should've been given the chance to comment on.

Itwasntme1 · 20/06/2020 21:36

Really? I must look into that. I hadn’t even though of planning permission.

Max height of raised platform is 30cm from the highest adjacent natural ground level.
So unless you're on a hill they need planning permission although the planning dept won't know unless someone reports them

Yes I second this. We were going to build a deck over our patio which is raised but realised it's already over 30 cms so can't raise the height without planning.

I can confirm there are restrictions on patio height - we had to corm to them when our extension was done. Shame the attached neighbors managed to get away with higher so they can now look straight over our fence Hmm

corm
conform

Put trellis up on top of the fence.

Itwasntme1 · 21/06/2020 17:52

Really don’t understand why they want the deck so high. My six foot fence will be waist height for them. They will have no privacy. And they are obsessed with their privacy.

I would go and knock and enquire about the plan in full and then ask how they are going to maintain your and their privacy, and what planning advice they have taken. If not satisfied, say you will be taking planning advice.

yes it would need pp. Maybe they plan a sunken hot tub or fire pit?
