What would you do with this room?

A whole room, with no real need for it!
I've basically cleared out a junk room and eventually I'm having wardrobes built into the recess (currently free standing wardrobes there)
I use it for getting dressed and a heated airer, plus a shoe rack but it feels a waste
No need for a spare bed or office.. any ideas? I can post pics!

You could make it into a dressing room? Have a dressing table with your hairdryer, straighteners etc, big wardrobes, shoe rack, mirror...I would love that!

QueenCT · 18/06/2020 12:40

I'm stuck on the makeup bit - I LOVE makeup but the lighting is so much nicer in my bedroom where my dressing table is that I'm reluctant to move it. Gets loads of natural light, the other room is more shaded

I'm assuming that you already have a Gift Wrapping Room...

SlightlySleepy · 18/06/2020 12:46

Craft room? Music room? Playroom (for younger kids) or x box room (for older kids)? Library? Gym? Extra TV room if you all want to watch different things? Second living room? If you put a sofa bed in there, it could become a bedroom whenever you get visitors but something else at other times

isurvived3under2 · 18/06/2020 12:46

Could you move your bedroom to the darker room and make your bedroom into a walk in wardrobe/hanging/drying space?

sleepismysuperpower1 · 18/06/2020 12:49

ah, ok. You could always consider renting it out by signing up to become a host family? But obviously that would require other commitments other than the room (meals etc).
You could also turn it into a dedicated storage space, so big wardrobes, filing cabinets, drawers etc

Pinkyyy · 18/06/2020 12:51

A bar room?

QueenCT · 18/06/2020 12:51

Can't swap bedrooms sadly! It's smaller so my bed won't fit
No DC if that helps, no need for spare bed (I've just binned one hence the new space) Grin and live alone

A cosy reading corner? Tall bookshelf, comfy armchair, lovely floor lamp, moni side table for coffee mug etc...

QueenCT · 18/06/2020 12:55

Here's what I'm working with. No insta perfection sadly Grin
Behind the door the plastic boxes and shoe rack are staying, rest is going to the tip today!
Mirrors are giant wardrobes which take up the recessed bit of the room (eventually to change to built in ones)
Heated airer lives in here permanently

I'd just enjoy having the extra space/storage room.
But depending on location for plumbing etc i think an upstairs laundry room. So washing machine moved up there, laundry baskets, ironing station. Hanging rail, Tumble dryer. I think that would feel like an absolute luxury. But then that probably says more about me 😁

QueenCT · 18/06/2020 13:39

Ooh interesting. It's a ground floor apartment
One side of the room is adjoining the house next door, the other side is the living room wall

I just feel a bit wasteful having it sat there with no purpose but I really don't want it turning back into a junk room as I've just spent a week clearing it Grin

I can’t believe you’re even asking this question!
Obviously it’s the boys’ bedroom, their cat cave. You already have a chair. A new bed, a scratching post, food bowls for those midnight snacks, a range of toys, and a litter tray and you’re sorted. 😹
(Queen’s cats are legendary)

Karcheer · 18/06/2020 13:42

A guest bedroom?

Bouledeneige · 18/06/2020 13:43

I think having a junk room is not a problem really. If you need a specific purpose then I'd go for a dressing room or a library/snug. But, not to be rude, honestly I wouldn't want to sit reading in a cosy corner with mirrored wardrobes.

TartanCurtains · 18/06/2020 13:46

Watching with interest as I'm in the same situation (live alone, no DC). I already have a guest room and can't work from home so don't need an office.

Mine is currently used as a laundry room, but recent (crazy lockdown) thoughts have been a wellbeing room with a sauna cabin, or a big ball pool!!

QueenCT · 18/06/2020 13:46

@Bouledeneige yes I get that totally! I feel the same

@Papergirl1968 I am NOT having a cat room GrinGrin

EmmaJR1 · 18/06/2020 13:55

I would totally make it a library/ well being room. Something decadent and really special.

getoffmysocks · 18/06/2020 14:00

Op, I have a room just like that inc the heated airer. It's my second laundry room, wardrobes for excess clothes etc. I actually think that is a perfectly acceptable use for a room.

memememe · 18/06/2020 14:45

i think id continue to use it for the laundry but also for yoga/exercising.

Purpleartichoke · 18/06/2020 14:57

We f I already had a craft room or hobby space, I would absolutely make it a giant walk-in closet.

SoupDragon · 18/06/2020 15:02

definitely a cat room

I would have a craft room though.
