What do you think of these bathroom tiles?

Be nice! Lol. I'm looking for some tiles for a 'feature' wall in our small bathroom 1.7m x 1.85m. They'd be the back wall of the shower (replacing the bath footprint). I thought something like these tiles might look good? Or will they date quickly. They're a large size 600x600mm, might that be a problem? Or does anyone know any similar 'Moorish' style design? Ta. :)

Love those OP

feliciabirthgiver · 17/06/2020 20:26

Lovely

HalloumiSalad · 17/06/2020 20:28

If they are for the whole back wall that size would work, but if I read correctly and you just mean within the limit of the shower cubicle I think the size of the tile would look wrong. Style and colour pretty fashionable so might date a little bit of you love it, who cares and it depends if you might decorate more than once every other decade. 😁

sbplanet · 17/06/2020 20:39

Thanks :) They'd be along the back wall (1.7m) as we're going for a 1700x760mm shower tray to replace the bath.

Not to my taste, but that’s irrelevant if you like them. They look like they’d be easy to keep clean, but if you need to trim one or more to make them fit your wall I’d do the in conjunction with your tiler - given how geometric the design is, you want them to fit your wall geometrically. Lay them out flat somewhere and tell him/her where you want them cut.

I think you’d also need bright lighting with a wall that colour. If your bathroom furniture is white, this matte dark colour could bring the light level right down.

Bluntness100 · 17/06/2020 20:45

Not for me either, but if you like them that’s all that matters.

sbplanet · 17/06/2020 20:46

Then what sort of design for a feature wall guys? :)

I like them! Smile

I think this iteration of Portuguese tiles has reached saturation point and will swiftly date, lovely as it is. More geometric ceramic tiles in the moorish style you find in Andalusia and Portugal will date less I think, but they are bolder and won’t work if you want to keep it neutral.

suggestionsplease1 · 17/06/2020 20:51

I like them - but only if the rest of the bathroom walls/ tiles / floors were very plain, single coloured, not too textured, otherwise that could be jarring.

Oblomov20 · 17/06/2020 20:54

Fabulous. But as a feature wall. Not behind the shower.

Some lovely tiles here and quality is great, you can get free samples and try!

I've got pale grey in my bathroom and more bold tiles elsewhere and I wish I'd gone braver in the bathroom. If it's a feature I'd say pale grey is a bit safe!

"More geometric ceramic tiles in the moorish style you find in Andalusia and Portugal will date less I think, but they are bolder and won’t work if you want to keep it neutral."

But that's what a feature wall is about, not keeping it neutral. :) Yes the other walls will be 'plain' though.

Love Portuguese/Andalusian/Moorish tiles.

Beautiful.

Where did you find them out of curiosity? We're redoing our bathroom soon and I really like those

emsyj37 · 17/06/2020 20:56

I used to love those style of tiles until I noticed they have them in Wetherspoons toilets Sad. They are nice, but I can't lose the Spoonz association now.

sbplanet · 17/06/2020 20:57

@BillywigSting they're from The Bathroom Showroom (City Plumbing)

@emsyj37 oh no and we'll have a toilet in the bathroom too! Lol. The taps won't pour beer though. :p

Interesting, but personally I would always shy away from 'statement' items that become part of the 'structure' of a house. Wallpaper and paint can be changed fairly easily and bathroom suits can be changed too but tiles have to be be chipped off and the wall possibly re-plastered. But then again perhaps I'm just not adventurous enough... Smile

LightDrizzle · 17/06/2020 21:18

I wasn’t trying to put you off the bold geometric tiles! I prefer them. As the tiles you posted are very neutral I thought that might be your preference.

Kamma89 · 17/06/2020 21:41

They're nice enough tiles OP & size would work well for space you have. Only point I would make is that they do seem to be everywhere/"done", that's not a problem for everyone but they're a little like dark blue kitchens. Will be easily dateable.

Bertucci · 17/06/2020 21:44

I think they are already dated and you will be very sick of them in a year.

BurtsBeesKnees · 17/06/2020 21:51

Love them. I'm looking at something similar for my kitchen floor

BillywigSting · 18/06/2020 06:56

Thanks op have bookmarked that. Lots of very nice tiles there!

HalloumiSalad · 18/06/2020 13:09

What do you think of these?

(also come in black)

flirtygirl · 18/06/2020 16:55

Love the star ones above but I've seen them loads now.

Op look for a geometric as the style you posted is becoming dated.
