Bath - Bathwick Hill family friendly?

Hi

Thinking about moving to the Bathwick area (found a lovely house mid way up Bathwick Hill) but don't really know much about the area.

Particularly interested in whether there is a good sense of community and many young families in the immediate vicinity. Doesn't feel like there is a proper focal point to the area so worry we might find it hard to meet other local families. We have a 2.5 year old and another baby on the way.

If anyone knows the area I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks

Anna

It's not my favourite part of bath just because of the main road seem to divide. It doesn't seem to have the same atmosphere as other family areas of Bath.

Thanks for your reply, it’s so hard to tell when you don’t know an area! Which areas would you recommend for families/community?

I guess it depends on what you're after. I love batheaston, Larkhall, Bathhampton are all very family friendly and have strong sense of community. I loved living in Larkhall, a bit hippy, lots of community activities and toddler/baby groups. Batheaston is fantastic too with a great preschool, fabulous school and great family community.

Widcombe is close to centre (5 mins to train at most) and has villagey feel.

ooh I'd forgotten about about Widcombe Blush it's lovely.

I associate Bathwick hill with lovely looking properties, a very busy road and crowded bus stops.

Widcome is lovely, some parts of Combe Down too.
