Velux window?

I currently have conservatory, it is fairly old (windows have beading on the outside, can see sunlight through the frame and we get piles of leaves in.) and gets very warm inside. We are therefore looking to replace the frame (dwarf wall) but have a light roof put on.

The quote has included a velux window. It is 5 sided, though one of the big sides is a solid wall. It is on the end of a through lounge/diner with a bay window at the opposite end.

Is the velux window a good idea? It is sort of West facing. The more south facing pitch will presumably get the most light but I guess will also just heat the room up still.

It is about £450, part of me thinks no window and that will pay for new blinds, but then I worry I may regret it if I don't.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, heat rises so having a velux means you can open it to regulate the temp it's a must have IMO
