I agree with pp. Paint it all white with a nice mirror and colourful artwork. It need to be v light to reflect the light. I’d also do it myself.

I quite like the fourth one - the grey one.

You can't necessarily make a dark, windowless space look light using white paint. It could just look a bit bleak.

(I don't particularly have an eye for this by the way - as a pp suggested, I have just embraced the dark in my passage and it looks fab).

I painted mine myself - it was fine. I did it over the 2 May bank holiday weekends - but also did all the stairs and several landings. I reckon you could do yours in a weekend.

I prefer the last one. But if I'm honest all the colours look a little tired. like pp said, I'd embrace the dark and go for a darker colour and make it the look you were going for. Sometimes darker walls dont always make a room look smaller.

I’m going to look at more samples today. The flat is rented so I don’t want to be too dramatic.

I can't really tell the layout of your hall. It does look dark though.
Is there anyway you could get it plastered first?
I actually agree with a PP - I'd go for a darker paint with some nice storage and embrace it being dark

Baxdream · 18/06/2020 09:45

Just saw your update that it's rented. In that case I like the green up to the picture rail then a white above it! That'd be perfect

It must be a London thing.

You can easily do that yourself - painting isn't hard. Put masking tape around the door frames

EachandEveryone · 12/11/2020 15:54

I think it looks better. I need to do something about the lighting maybe? Any ideas?

A multi light fitting? So many great ones about. Just replace the single light with a chandelier type light. Modern or traditional - look at John Lewis. Or have recessed ceiling lights all the way down the hall. Then you get light in all areas. One ceiling light with one bulb is limiting so get more light spaced out down the hall. Best to have done that before decorating though.
