£16,500 to redecorate - am I being ripped off? How much were you charged?

Being quoted the following:

£2.5k for stripping old wallpaper + carpets and clear.
£7k for "complete decorating" (assuming this is painting 3 bedroom, living room, hallway + a installing flooring in said bedrooms)
£7k to plaster all rooms

Based in London. Average 3bed 1930s house. Is this reasonable? Anyone done similar? How much were you charged?

I paid £500 per room a few years ago for plastering in London. It would have been £1000 to include the ceiling. I had a few quotes so I think the plastering quote is not really excessive.
Tradesmen have to pay by weight to take things to the tip so it will be expensive but this seems too much. Is the wallpaper normal paper or old painted woodchip which would take time to strip?
Painting shouldn't be that much but maybe installing flooring could add up.

Good God. Shock We paid £2k for a retired painter, to paint (refresh) our whole house, white, small 3 bedroomed Surrey.

It's an old thread, Oblomov, and it's been agreed that the price is way to high. This builder was ditched.

However, the decoration included hardwood floors throughout the whole house. Yours didn't.

That's our annual income, we DIY a full 4 bed huge Edwardian terrace in period colours, huge ceilings etc for around 2k.
They've seen a rich person coming Grin

Job didn’t include hardwood floor throughout and funnily enough, I ended up using this guy - long story! But I had someone negotiate far better terms.

Don’t reckon this guy is making much profit on my job at all, but he is doing it well. Thankfully.

Sorry, just the bedrooms you said.

Glad he's doing it to your satisfaction and at a better price.
