Kitchen worktops - is £4k a rip off?

Builder's quoted me 4k for kitchen worktops but this seems crazy.

Anyone got good recs that are cheaper? Or is this about right?

What material are they? And how large an area approximately? If it’s a large space including island and/or utility or if it’s Silestone or Corian it’s not that crazy.

I paid £2.8k for quartz. 22mm - thicker would be more. About 6 metres I think.

As PP say, it depends on the material. A large area of granite would be about 4K.

Sizes and material selection are needed or we can't say!

That’s about what our quartz cost.

Our quotes have ranged between 2.2k and 3.2k for quartz worktop. That's for a largish island and 2m run

Completely depends on what you’re having. We have a couple of very very similar colours of quartz, but from different suppliers, on show in our showroom. The average cost of the first one is £3500. The other, very similar one, £6500. There is no difference in quality!

If you have an independent quartz supplier in your area I’d recommend going direct for a quote, it’s likely to be cheaper than a builders one and will be templated and fitted by the people who deal with it daily.
