I am having to make decisions about flooring for the bathroom and ensuite. Torn between materials, tiles are classic but hard to kneel on ( have small children) and cold. Vinyl tiles I know nothing about. Wood worries me in a bathroom incase we have a leak. All I know is I don't want carpet, has anyone got something they recommend?

@Scottishstottie that looks really nice, thanks for sharing however with two preschool children I am going to try to avoid wood I think

OP....It's wood effect laminate click lock so waterproof, it's not wood.

My dad is a builder and always advises against tile in a bathroom. If there is an issue underneath then the tile needs to be cracked to get it up whereas click lock or something similar can be taken up and put back easier.

Just a thought though! However after moving in to our new house and finding two leaks in the en suite, I'm very pleased the previous owner didn't have tile as we sorted leak, let it dry out and didn't have to replace flooring with something new.

@ListenToIronMaidenBaby thanks, I always thought laminate warped if it got too wet. I assumed this was as it was wood. You learn something new everyday. Also agree tiling in pipework can cause issues. Something else to think about, I really need to become more decisive.

It would warp if not a 'suitable for bathroom' one so just check on this when filtering choices.

While others say just pop a bath mat on tiles with kids, I'd still avoid it, I have a DD3 and slipping on tile over laminate/vinyl etc is much more painful! I say this as a slightly clumsy adult too!
