Do I need to sand this fence before I paint it?

I want to paint the fence around my garden, similar to the colour that’s on there. DH reckons I need to sand each panel first. Do I really need to? I was just going to slap it on.

Yup, give it a clean, wait till it’s dry then slap a coat or two on it. Guarantee it will be fine.

Painting your garden fence is not something you need to over work, I’ve painted many and to be honest I’d not even power wash it unless it was filthy, most I’d do is hose or wipe any dirt off,
