Help. Front door constantly blows open on windy days

Hi there,

Does anyone have any insight on the above issue? I have also attached pictures of said door.

Can someone please if there is anything we can do to correct it? I assume it is in some way pressure related, but I have no clue. Any clever gadget? What should I do? Thank you

A bolt?

itsmehere1 · 08/06/2020 17:09

Haha yeah thought of that, want something to fix it so that it can be opened from outside without locking

There's a keyhole on the door handle. Why don't you lock it?

VettiyaIruken · 08/06/2020 17:16

Sounds like it's knackered and you need a new one. You could try replacing the lock and get one with a larger catch I suppose but I think what it needs is replacing.

Is it gradually opening the lock as the pressure inside the porch changes (and therefore the door moves inwards and outwards repeatedly)?
If so, a bigger catch might help.

If that's the case though, it's obviously not well insulated and you'd be best to replace it I think.

Thanks for all your replies

@claudiawankleman that’s exactly the case! I will
Think of a bigger latch as a temporary and replacing in longer term. Thank you

please post a photo of the edge of the door showing the front of the lock, front on and at an angle; and of the staple (keep) in the frame, and of the gap between door and frame, near the positon of the lock, with a £1 coin inserted into it to show the size of the gap.
