Slippery carpet on stairs - advice needed

I'm looking for some advice on what I can do about carpet on the stairs becoming slippery please. I've slipped down the stairs twice this week and it bloody hurts, particularly as I suffer with joints/spine. It seems that the carpet on the landing/turn at the top has become 'polished' through use - kids like to slide down on their bottoms, as well as normal footfall - even though it's only 2/3 years old.

I've found a company in the US who do something called the NoSlipStrip but it works out very expensive with postage. It works by screwing a runner onto the tread and then applying an adhesive strip which looks perfect and exactly what I need.

Everything I find in the UK seems to either be tape (ok for short term, but not really for carpet), or treads for hardwood flooring.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks Smile

A carpet shop will sell various solutions.
We got some rubber right angle strips for Dad's flat (two story flat Grin) which are perfect. They screw down like a threshold strip. Not great for sliding but the kids will figure something out.

If possible wait for Covid restrictions to stop and have a look in person.

@TheQueef thanks for that, the strips sound similar to the thing I was looking at, which seemed ideal. Hoping the carpet shops open up next week, otherwise I'm going to be coming down the stairs on my bum too Grin

Np it's one of those things you need to see and handle to make sure it's right.
In the interim don't do ANY laundry just dump all the mucky washing at the bottom of the stairs for a crash pad Grin
