Which one?

Option 1:

Decorate the whole house including new bathroom, new carpet on stairs, sofas, fireplace, plus wardrobes etc (list is endless)

Option 2 :

Continue to save in order to knock down the conservatory + build a kitchen extension?

I imagine 30k to be a fairly low budget to get all the work done on either option but with option 1 could make a decent start.

I want option 2 more but i dont know if we will ever get the budget we need Confused

Get some quotes for option 2 before you decide. It might be that you've enough, or nearly enough to get the extension done if you initially get a cheap kitchen fitted. Or fit it yourself.

I'd always get the big expensive jobs done first, then work down.

option 2 you will alway have an extent in few years fireplace bathroom out of date and decorating need redoing

Paperchainpopp · 07/06/2020 11:45

Option 1.

ittooshallpass · 07/06/2020 11:45

Why not release some equity from your mortgage and get it all done!

I should have said we have only just brought the house.

Option 1 is non urgent btw - the house is nice, its just not my taste. Perfectly liveable however.

Option 2 the current kitchen is new however very small hence the need to extend again though its very liveable.

Although 30k is not a huge amount if we go with option 1 that leaves us starting from ground up to save for option 2.

Been going over this for 7 days so i appreciate your comments Flowers

Option 2. The flooorplan is very open so if you redecorate and buy new carpets now some of it will have to be done again when you extend. If the existing kitchen is new you should be able to sell it.

Option 2. Or, more specifially, what Titchy said in the first reply.
Sounds like you have plenty saved. Get the big job done.
If you like, or particularly dislike the decor in one of the rooms, you can always decorate it yourself for a pittance.
Space - as in making the kitchen bigger - is going to be much more helpful to your household that if the 2nd bedroom is blue or magnolia.

Getting costings for option 2. Until you that you won't know how close to affording it you are.
