Moved from new build to 60s build

I was so bloody cold last night. The new build easily held 24 degrees during the summer. It was too hot but it was my normal, and whenever I'd go to other houses I'd be freezing. We'd sleep with just a thin sheet on during summer.

Will I acclimatise to more usual temperatured living? I'd say it was in the region of 16-20 degrees but I daren't get out the covers to investigate. Is it ok to wear slippers and dressing gown in the summer? And maybe look into a 13.5 toy duvet?

Are you seriously asking mumsnet if you can wear your slippers and dressing gown in the summer?

Then yes you can crack on.

I grew up in a 1960's house which my parents bought new. When I was a child it was only single glazed which was bloody freezing, especially when you consider that it was open plan (hall, dining room, kitchen) and the lounge window was full length and ran the full side of the room (18ft).
I have since lived in a 1940's ex local authority and a 1930's semi. Both are warmer than my childhood home (DM still lives in the same 1960's house, although it's now double glazed throughout).

Electric blankets are the business!

And hot water bottles.

I’ve never lived in a warm house.

Interesting because our house is never hot in summer. I would be sweltering at 24 degrees even in winter.

But it is never cold in winter either.

well insulated should mean neither too hot nor too cold.

If the temp varies wildly, you need ot look at how you will insulate in order to avoid massive heating bills in winter.
Windows, cavity walls, good thick curtains over old windows/doors etc

This has to be a wind up.

We went from a 30s build to 60s build and 60s house is just toooo hot, even in winter. Took me a while to acclimatise but we did!
