Where can I buy a place for under a million, or rent for about GBP1,500 a month. Pre with a garden or some communal gardens. Please? Each time I think of there, I think of Heathrow or Southhall. There must be somewhere nicer. Please?

Near to Richmond is Ham which is cheaper as the mainline and tube station is about a mile away. Really lovely parts, on the river (with good flood defences!)some good primary schools and a fantastic nursery nearby

Putney is less than 30 minutes from Waterloo. There is bus, tube and train connections into central London, you can get 3 bed houses for less than £450. Nice and quiet, good schools. Especially good faith schools...

Quiet except for the planes.

That is a disadvantage of the more southerly part of W London, isn't it?

Blu,
Planes yes, I think you get a lot of that in South West and West London. To be honest, I dont really notice them anymore. The noise is not that intrusive. What I meant by nice and quiet is that it is quiet in relation to CARS! It is also a peaceful neighbourhood, elderly people and families. Chidren play out, you see them all the time, playing ball, on their bikes, going in and out of eachothers houses. Quite a lot of green patches too, with little greens, and small parks, etc. I would not move even if somebody threw a multimillion house at me!

yes, it always looks nice when I go through or visit. but the planes drive me mad. I lived in a house which backed on to a railway line for years, and it didn't bother me - whereas it often drove visitors potty!

West Kensington is pretty much Earls Court, so maybe look for that.
