Worried!

I can't post a picture my phone won't let me, but basically I have all these tiny little red spiders (tiny) all over my white front door and windowsills outside. Google is saying I think mites or something? I just sprayed everywhere with dettol but I can't wipe it as if I kill one it leaves a big red stain and will look like a murder scene at the end of it! I don't want them infesting my home.

Could you wash them off with a hose pipe?

NotKeenOnSwede · 31/05/2020 20:59

Yeah I have done but they'll probably come back I'd just like to know what they are really and if they can cause damage etc

We've had these before. They come and there seems to be loads of them, but they disappear again before too long. Not sure whether they are spiders or mites, but I know what you mean. I wouldn't worry about them.

Are they red spider mites?

www.google.com/amp/s/www.wikihow.com/Get-Rid-of-Clover-Mites%3famp=1

Hoover, insecticide or laundry detergent.

No idea. They've mostly gone now, presumably because the sun has gone in or because I've sprayed dettol at them. They'll be back tomorrow. I'm having images of the little fuckers eating through my house. Then the whole house will become unsellable, then I'll have to phone the insurers, then make a massive claim and my premiums will go right up and I'll be stuck with a money pit in debt and depressed and stressed forever... I suffer with anxiety if it isn't obvious.

They sound like red spider mite. They love hot, dry, conditions and you normally find them in your greenhouse playing havoc with your tomatoes!
They are easily spotable when on white upvc. I can't see as they do any harm. But when they're on plants they spin webs and stuff and are a nuisance.
I'd suggest you just spray mist them with water as they prefer dry conditions, but I can't see they are anything to worry about. Or if you want to clean at the same time spray them with a weak w-u-l soap solution! That's what we do on our tomatoes! Don't want any nasty un-necessary chemicals. :)
