Hi all, this is my first post and new to Mumsnet, so hi!

We are looking to move to County Durham from down South and was wondering on the best areas?
We have been looking at Bishop Auckland and surrounding towns/villages. Schools not need at this stage.
Would like the best of both worlds whereby being in a town but near to countryside. We will be buying and have quite a healthy budget.

Thanks
Em

Hi
Where did you decide to move?
What do people think of Great Ayton?

Dishi Rishi is the MP.

Great Ayton is lovely, though is quite a tourist spot, so you might want to consider that when choosing particular locations. Stokesley and Guisborough are both relatively close for access to larger shops / supermarkets, and then not hugely far from Middlesbrough for the retail parks etc. There isn't a huge amount in Great Ayton itself but Stokesley is really close and that has a leisure centre etc.
