DIY Kitchens - will prices really go up from 1st June?

Hiya, I've heard that trade prices do go up once a year. This was meant to happen back in May as I understand it, but DIY Kitchens apparently held off stating their prices would go up from 1st June instead... Is there any truth in this? Do we think that given the current economic environment, they may hold off from price increases? My guessing would have been that a fair few people may be holding off from reno works for a bit?

I'm due to order a kitchen but I'm still not entirely clear on the design. Shall I bite the bullet and order before 1st June, with the aim that i may have a week's window to make changes etc, or do people think the increase won't actually happen?

their prices were due to go up 10% at the end of march and then lockdown happened so yes I think they will be putting their prices up but still way cheaper overall than the other companies

They may do, if it is still saying so on the website they probably will.

You could order now but choose to wait before delivery.

Or - they have sales twice a year - hang on until then

There's always a note on their website counting down to the price hike... If you need a kitchen get it ordered, if you can wait it won;t be a huge increase anyway

MarchSurprise · 29/05/2020 10:25

@Khione do you know roughly when the sales are please? I'm hoping to get a new kitchen from them in my new place so would be good to see if I could time it for a sale.

isseywith4vampirecats · 29/05/2020 11:35

their sales are not as spectacular as you would think I first looked at them when there was one of their sales on and its not on everything it was 10% on certain items in the range and their price overall generally goes up 10% so even with the price increase your not going to save much in the sale

Smallgoon · 30/05/2020 19:18

Low and behold, they're now holding onto current prices until 6th July according to their website today...

does anybody know how quickly they send out items that are missed off of delivery (in case they do)?

@Smallgoon
A wall unit was damaged in transit and I got another one within a week. I only live 20 minutes away though which makes it easier to schedule.

@MarchSurprise
I can't remember exactly, I know there is one in early spring but not sure when the other is.

Khione · 30/05/2020 20:43

Do go and visit if you can, you get a much better feel for the the units and get the chance to really see what the various extras do.

They usually offer free pick ups from the station but that I'm not sure if the showroom is even open at the moment. When it is open you get as much free coffee and tea as you want AND free cakes that are made in the show kitchens in the showroom.

I took my sister when she was visiting from Bristol. Her kitchen was an expensive bespoke one, she said as and when it needs replacing she will buy from DIY. When she went home, she was talking to a friend who was commissioning a bespoke kitchen - they decided to visit and stay over locally and then saved a fortune by buying a DIY one instead.

the showroom is open but you have to go online and make an appointment there will only be two sets of people in the showroom which is huge at the moment the coffee machine is there but not the cakes that we got last visit we ordered ours and delivery around four weeks its well worth going to the showroom we went looking at one colour and finish didn't like it in real and went for a different one

Smallgoon · 30/05/2020 22:50

Not so easy to visit when you live in London. I'm not even entirely sure how I'd get there on train.
