Kitchen drawer sizes

Hi

Help!

I am ordering a kitchen and have the option of 2x 100cm drawers OR 2x60 cm and 1x 80cm drawers.

I am thinking the larger drawers would be better as they have more room and therefore can house a wider variety of items.

However I am worried that the 100cm drawers will be prone to breaking if they are ever (accidentally) overloaded.

I also can’t think what I would use the 2x 60cm drawers for other than small pieces like tea towels etc. Which is of limited use.

What are you thoughts? Larger drawers or a selection of smaller drawer sizes.

Also for awareness, I will have 2x 800 drawers elsewhere. And all drawer units will be configured with 2x large drawers with a top internal drawer for cutlery and small item storage.

Any advice pile be appreciated.

This is in a horizontal line I assume, to fit a 2m space? For aesthetics alone I'd go 2x1m, nicely balanced and you can buy inserts for cutlery etc

Yes it’s a 2 metre space. Aesthetics would definitely be better and I could decide how I use the space and put partitions in. Just concerned about the durability of such large drawers and also wondering if the 60cm have some pro’s that I haven’t yet considered.

Have been living with a makeshift kitchen for 12 years (I didn’t even have room for a freezer ) and this is costing a lot of money so want to make the right choices. 😬

depending where your getting your kitchen the standard blum is 30kg
yet can get runnier 50 kg or 60kg per drawer
speak to your supplier
600 drawers are no goo for pans etc but more towels, junk drawer and tin foils etc

If you mean deep pan drawers, get the wide ones. 800mm is OK, with a shallow one above for utensils, corkscrews, phone charger leads, cutlery, screwdrivers etc

You lose a lot of space at each side.

A roll of Turkey foil won't fit in a 600mm drawer, because of the space lost at the sides

With the deep drawers, you can get a hidden internal drawer, I think they are 100mm high, and either moulded plastic sectional drawer liners, or assemble-your-own dividers which are handy. The moulded ones are inflexible and also waste space around the perimeter.

I would get the two 100 cm units. My logic is that you can use all manner of baskets or containers to divide up a wide drawer if you wish, but you cannot make a smaller drawer any bigger.
