Ikea kitchens and installation service

Hi all, hope we are all safe!

I am beginning to look into having the kitchen refitted once things start to open up again. I would love to use local services but none that have dropped brochures through the door do anything I love.

I have always loved a particular kitchen in ikea (bodbyn) and love the dresser unit on display on our local store. However, I don't know anyone who has had an ikea kitchen or anyone who has used their installation teams.

Has anyone here used them at all? Can you tell me what you thought of the quality of the kitchen and the work of their installers please?

Thanks

Best off asking about your local one specificity as one in Edinburgh is no good to you if you are in Exeter.

We used Nottingham and I loved it. Absolutely great. Couldn't believe the quality for the price. Even with remedial electrical work paid to the installation contractor, it felt like stealing. Everyone very friendly throughout and we were never made to feel poor or unworthy, unlike Magnet and B&Q Hmm

I am a bit of a nerd and really enjoyed finding out about the different types of units and using the online design app etc. I would say if you don't want to be involved in the design be cautious, there's a lot of detail and it's easy to miss something.

Got all Ikea appliances, them having guarantees included came in very handy too. Washing machine, hob and oven all needed looking at in the 5 years we had it but all done for free and no hassle. I realise that makes it sound negative that there were issues but honestly I'd do it all again. The washing machine was run probably 3 times a day for a year (refluxy baby) and the oven used more than daily on average as I loved to cook and bake. I definitely abused them!

We moved to another house needing renovation and I really miss that kitchen. Everything was exactly where I wanted it and everything looked how I wanted it. It was my baby!

I've already designed the kitchen for our new house but won't be taking the plunge until this pandemic thing gets sorted out. Sob.

I’ve used Ikea for several kitchens for rental properties. I think they’re excellent quality, transparent pricing and helpful planning (with free childcare). I plan to redo my kitchen once I get an extension and I will definitely use Ikea- why waste money?

We need a new kitchen. Never thought of Ikea before. Love the green Bodbyn kitchen.

We tried to use Howdens and they were quite rude in that they didn't want our business.
Ended up ordering from Wickes and having to do all the units myself and try and organise separate plumbers, gas engineers and electricians- nightmare!

I wonder, do Ikea rip put your old units and appliances and dispose of them?
Do they do all the plumbing and electrics? Do you sort out the tiling / plasterwork in between cupboards to units?

We’re looking at Ikea and had it all priced up before the pandemic hit. Our installer doesn’t do the plumbing and no electrics. They’ll place the appliance but not hook it up. They install the bench, sink etc but no tiling to finish. I noticed there was an extra charge to come back after the bench was installed to I suppose install the upper cupboard which I thought was cheeky. But as it’s a great price I can’t complain

HerRoyalNotness · 25/05/2020 03:33

Oh and it didn’t include demolition, or making good the walls before they start so we’d have to do that ourselves or find someone to do it

Thanks folks. Fab news!

I have 2 local ones Nottingham and Sheffield so good to know that the Nottingham one is good. We are about half way between the 2 so could be handy to go to both and see what they come up with.

It's the grey bodbyn one I love, the kitchen is a small galley style but I need storage in the dining room and found nothing I like, but the Nottingham store had a dresser combo of the white and grey bodbyn ones in the entrance up to its renovation and I fell in love with it so would love to have it in the dining room.
