Kitchen cupboard paint, and tiles

Following the trend for painting cupboards, I'm thinking of doing mine. 20 year old approx Ikea kitchen I dislike, not installed by us. Units in ok condition..my plan had been to replace unit doors, and worktop. But could paint work on these, they have a corrugated type pattern. Will I get a good finish?

Also for tiles, any good experiences of tile paint. Or will these look ok if I go for a white or cream unit colour?

Recommendations for paint types, colours and technique please:)

I painted our doors white. It was a very light kitchen but still took 5 coats to stop the pale yellow showing through.
The paint is very hard work -it doesn’t behave like normal paint. If I used a brush it streaked & the best finish was with a sponge roller. It was best to do very thin coats rather than a thick coat as if put on too thickly it created runs and drips.
I don’t think it would turn out well with the grooves but, for £14 a tin & a £2 roller, it might be worth a try before paying for new doors.

I used this after DM (aged 60) used it on her kitchen. It looks brilliant now it’s done.

No clue about tiles though.

Thanks @ido, that's that I'm worried about, won't be able to easily paint grooves with a roller.

Could go for a textured effect? Then it wouldn't matter about looking smooth. Probably be hard to clean though...

There is a company near us that spray paint them. Might give a better finish.

@Toomanycats99 that's a good idea, but not sure it's worth if for my cheap Ikea kitchen as new doors would be cheaper. Respray looks to be about £1500. Prob if you had a nice oak kitchen it would be a lovely thing to do.

Ps. Ikea doors are £30-50 each

I actually really like the doors themselves - would changing the handles help? I think with new worktop and tiles it would look completely different even without repainting them.
