Presenting property for sale

I have a bottom end of the market 2 up 2 down ex-council home (NE) it's semi detached with gardens front and back in a relatively popular area. Looking at similar properties on the same street I think about £60-65k is probably a ballpark figure on it.
I've lived here 10 years so I'm a bit out of touch with buying/selling but I think my house is very much FTB or landlord territory.
Kitchen and bathroom are pretty recent and modern, the rest of the house is OK but I'm torn between redecorating everything neutrally (white/off white, not sure?) and replacing the tatty carpets to hopefully appeal to prospective buyer, or letting it go to market as is.
Value wise, I don't think it would make much difference but I really want a quick sale and I was hoping someone with a bit more experience might advise on what they would do.
Sorry for the long post!

Neutral decor and floor coverings will help you gain a quick sale although as you say perhaps not uplift your price but the home would present itself as far more desirable
Good luck with your house sale and try not to stress out

Yes I agree with happygirl

I agree too.

I'm glad you agree, my siblings didn't seem to think it was worth bothering, but they're used to my house if you know what I mean? It's just my house to them, they're not looking at it as buyers.

Before you spend anything get some estate agents round.
Ask them: Tell them to tell you what to do....
You have to encourage them to be brutal
My guess is they will say if you can paint yourselves cheaply and its currently an odd colour then paint, but people do not notice carpets so much...you could get them cleaned or chuck rugs over which you can take to new house
More important is its clean, smells clean, not over furnished and not over cluttered, and tidy tidy tidy: especially wardrobes & cupboards otherwise it will look like you do not have enough storage
Am sure if you have a google search Sarah Beeny or Kirsty Allsop wil have done a quick 10 step guide to what to do.
Good luck with the move.
