Salisbury, relocation and A338

Hi, after some advice if possible.
We're looking to relocate at some point and like the look of a house between Fordingbridge and Downton. My concern is the A338 and how busy it gets (under normal circumstances).
Is there anyone from that area that could offer their opinion?
Thank you

The last bit into Salisbury can be a bottleneck with traffic jams at rush hour but generally I don't find it very busy. There is only a single lane for most of it so you can't really overtake very easily and can get stuck behind things. If the house is near the road and it's noise you are worried about I would say that it's fairly busy in the day but quiet in the evening/at night.

It isn't usually bad at all. The only time there have been big delays is when there have been roadworks over the years. There have been quite a few recently as lots of building going on in Downton. There are some back routes which you could use. Is the house actually on the main road or more set back in Breamore village or similar?

Wow that's beautiful I love the garden.

@Ohnonotnow- I guess it might be a bit noisy during the rush hour but it isn't usually a horribly busy road. Perhaps they have double glazing already in place.

The garden is amazing and Breamore, Woodgreen are very pretty, lovely surrounding area too.

Drove past it yesterday - it's nice but it is very close to the road so you will hear the traffic especially lorries... I would expect it would be fairly quiet at night but it is a main road so if it's going to bother you to hear near constant daytime road noise from your garden/when windows are open it will be an issue.

Thanks, we stopped off yesterday and I agree, it's lovely but the proximity to the road is a deal breaker, I have to consider my feline housemates Grin

That road will be quieter now because there are fewer trucks going to Poole for cross channel ferries. But soon be back to normal. It is a nice village.

Your nearest bottle of milk is miles away now shop is closed. Is there a shop in Woodgreen?
