Downstairs toilet feature wall

I really fancy adding a feature wall to our downstairs toilet to make the room more interesting. I like the idea of a navy or dark green wall like the image from Pinterest but my problem is our toilet doesn't have a flat back wall like that.

If you were painting the room would you do the colour just on the bit of wall where the pictures are and below the shelf or would you also do the extra L shape around it?

You are thinking of bathroom zones, which apply only in bathrooms.

A bathroom is a room containing a fixed bath or shower.

This is not a bathroom.
