It's impossible to say without a) knowing the layout and b) how you want to use the kitchen.
Is it functional? It is for entertaining? Do you like cooking as a performance art with friends on the other side of the island? How much space have you got on the rest of the counters as opposed to the island?
Have you thought about the golden triangle - prep area to cooker to sink & bin?
Do you want to eat around it as a family?
Personally, I don't really like sinks in islands, and also don't have my hob in mine. But mine is very much an entertaining kitchen, and friends often come and cook alongside us. So the hob is on a back wall and we have lots of seating around a big island, plus I wanted lots of space for drinks, nibbles, candles, flowers, etc.
So for me, I don't have either - because that's what works for the way we use the space - and you need to figure out what that means for you - lots of different opinions on here may just confuse you more.
Imagine your days and evenings in the kitchen once it is finished, and what it needs to look like to support that vision.
