New Bathroom

Hello,

We're starting to plan a new bathroom and a shower room for our extension and would love to hear you recommendations for bathroom suppliers.
We have a bathroom and also a separate shower room to fit.
Budget for both is up to £15k
Measurements:
Bathroom: 1.7m x 1.85m
Shower room: 0.9m x 2.5m

Prefer modern/contemporary/Shaker style to anything which is overly traditional.

Thank you :)

Small rooms and decent budget - go to an independent bathroom place and get their designer on it.

If you fancy a DIY job then Victorian Plumbing worked well for me, just pick the higher end stuff.

@loofah01 - thanks for the tips

Victoria plumb is fantastic, not Victorian plumb!

Mrsladybirdface · 09/05/2020 11:30

I got a sink unit from Tikkamoon. It is stunning and I think pretty timeless and considering it was doubly sink unit (including sink) it came in at under £600

Smallgoon · 09/05/2020 12:34

@Barkingfuckingdogs I got most of my fixtures from Victorian Plumbing, as Loofah mentioned, I was sure to go for the more higher end pieces. Time will tell I guess if I have any issues with the shower head, valve, taps etc. I will say that the issue I faced was that I wanted black fixtures, and these are just ridiculously expensive wherever you look. Some look woefully cheap and still have a whopping big price tag.
That said I got my sink from Victorian Plumbing after having already decided I would get one from Lusso stone. My VP sink was significantly cheaper than the Lusso stone and I was thrilled with it.

Great name btw Wink

We’ve just done this, so I’ll add my thoughts :) We’ve gone Duravit for most of the white goods, and Crosswater for cabinet/basin (love their glass basins). We went to an independent during their sale and got some decent discounts (30% roughly from rrp). Don’t be afraid to try negotiating the price if you’re buying locally (that’s assuming you can with the current lockdown). Bought the radiator and underfloor heating from RSF Bathrooms and they were great, good advice and superb price (I’m not affiliated in any way btw!).

We're just about to start ours similar budget slightly smaller, no bath but it will be wet room. We designed it ourselves DH works in the industry but very very high end (his clients shop at THG Paris if you have to ask the price you cant afford it) then we contacted CP Hart, the lady was amazingly helpful they really know their products, I wasn't sure which tap to buy and or which shower (there were hundreds on their website and they all looked the same) but she did advised us on what tap she thought we would like etc, we remeasured and changed to sizes five times she requoted everything with 1 hour of receiving our emails and knocked 30% off. We had a previous quote from a local plumbing shop yes it was cheaper but they didn't know anything about the stuff we were considering so couldn't advise us and wouldn't have been able to effortlessly requote. I know if Id had the time and patience I could shopped around and bought some of things separately and a bit cheaper but I couldn't bothered frankly.
We chose a Duravit sink/loo, Axor taps and Hansgrohe shower.
we very pleased with the quality.

Loofah01 · 09/05/2020 16:10

...Googles 'Axor'...

mencken · 09/05/2020 17:40

a company that knocks 30% off at the first query? Do they sell double-glazing as well?

I always wonder how much work those sit-on sinks create, and how hard they are to clean.

@mencken sorry please ignore that last post thought you were replying to mine!

bloodylongdrive · 10/05/2020 07:29

@mencken CP Hart are a very well known bathroom company (mainly based in London/home counties), I cant find any double glazing on their website! We also got a 30% discount because it was in the winter sale but sadly it didn't apply to everything. We ordered in the sale but didn't want the stuff delivered till April they happily held it for us others wouldn't.
"I always wonder how much work those sit-on sinks create, and how hard they are to clean."
A good question which is why after weeks of research we choose a wall hung sink (and loo).
OP we found choosing tiles an absolute nightmare, as they say choice is not freedom.

Thank you all very much for the suggestions...cue an afternoon at my desk :)

@Smallgoon - lovely sink/unit combo. We're looking for something similarly shaped and also sitting on the unit - we don't have a huge amount of space to play with. Can I ask how big your sink is?

@CMBC0320 hiya, this is exact model I bought. The lusso stone one would have cost £225

Victoria plumb are really helpful Grin

Smallgoon · 11/05/2020 11:57

It's kinda annoying that Victorian Plumbing and Victoria Plumb have similar names. Not sure if this was deliberate or not.

sarahc336 · 11/05/2020 12:44

Yeah it's really strange but we used the Victoria plum one and found them really helpful, the website clearly tells you all the parts you need for which furniture you pick, stuff I'd have never known in a million years and the quality is really good. Can't comment for Victorian pluming though x

Loofah01 · 11/05/2020 12:50

Victorian Plumbing, I found, were really good. Very fast delivery and they immediately split the order when some taps were on backorder so that the builders got what they needed early.
Free delivery and I opened a trade account so got 10% off on top too :)

PlayinMay · 11/05/2020 13:11

Had a really bad experience with victorian plumbing taps a few years ago - really crap quality.

Bluesheep8 · 12/05/2020 15:37

Victorian Plumbing don't use great manufacturers, as per pp.
