One bed flat

At some point, in the future, I would like to buy a one bed flat in London. Due to my budget, it would have to be a doer upper of sorts - nothing structural.

What kind of budget would you set for

kitchen

  • units
-appliances -flooring

Hall
-flooring

Living room

  • floor

Bedroom
-floor

Bathroom
-new units
-floor
-taps

  • bath, sink and toilet

The rest I think I can work out but I would like to know what kind of budget I could set myself.

Thanks

And yes, travelling from Croydon to London should be a doddle. I know loads of people that do that commute into town.

Croydon had a reputation in the past for being 'rough' but it seems to have had a transformation in the last 15 years I'd say. It's been massively regenerated. Lots of new property built, shopping centres, huge ikea etc. I would say it's probably a good option.

@Elbels wow, that's really impressive! How did you find the ikea kitchen installation? And are you happy with how the kitchen turned out? The kitchen is first on my list once lockdown is over

@Smallgoon that's a great link, thank you. I'll use it.

I've mixed views on Croydon - I don't know know what to make of it yet. There has clearly been investment in East Croydon.

Focus your search on Croydon then . Some good options.
You dont want to commute from east ham or swiss cottage to croydon. But croydon to central london is easy on train

or perhaps it is working looking at some of the more cheaper areas that will be getting Cross rail soon. I can't really speak for lots of them, but I imagine Chadwell Heath, Goodmayes etc may be a good bet. East definitely has better transport links than SE London imo.

Cross rail will be a long time coming.
OP referred to health issues so needs easy connections now.
