DH and I have been looking at houses while on lockdown, we’re considering various options at the moment and obviously all hypothetical. One house we have seen is a half a Victorian hall, it was very well converted into two flats and a house, we are looking at the house. The piece of land next to the house was sold off and a block of (nice) flats was put on there, it makes the whole plot look crowded and the flats look somewhat out of place but the house is beautiful and a rare find.
The plot of land that was sold is L shaped going around the back of the old hall. On there, they have built 3 double garages, one double is for the house, another for the original hall flats and one each for two of the new flats (sorry this is complicated)! I can only imagine the developer had an agreement with the original plot owner or something but the garages were built for the original dwellings at the same time as for the new flats.
Is this a normal set up? Is it likely there is a service charge to the freeholder of the land?
I will attach a picture if I can.
