Paint colour for a Victorian terrace

I live in middle of surburbia in a 1900’s terrace which have all been rendered and painted

All the neighbours painted theirs last year and ours needs doing but we haven’t had the money

The neighbours houses are blue, grey and green. Ours is a sort of creamy stone colour which is fine but bland

How do I pick a colour that won’t clash with the neighbours?

I’d love a really pale pink but thinking I might just be safer to go white

I’d go for pink!

I aspire to a pink house!

Might be worth knowing if your render is K-Rend or not before deciding. If it is, you need to use specialist paint to avoid issues with damp and poor finish.

Link to more info here - no associations or affiliations with the link - just a good explanation of reasons why.

Tbh, if it's cement or K Rend, as a long term game plan, it would be prudent to set aside money to remove and replace with lime render, as this will allow the building to get rid of moisture properly, therefore avoiding or helping to resolve damp issues and damage to masonry.

It’s not k rend. It’s standard sand render

If it's standard sand/cement, you'll have a wide choice of colour. Which way does the house face as this will influence how the light plays on the face of the house.

If it's North facing, colours tend to take on a greenish hue. South facing will mean warmer tones. East/West the light changes dramatically through the day.

If you can, use a clay based exterior paint - Earthborn or Farrow and Ball and avoid plastic based pants as this will compound any problems that cement render will cause to brickwork under the surface.

Long term, lime render would be better for the bricks.

It’s very much south facing. Gets a lot of sun.

Have had quotes to redo in like render but it’s 10’s of thousands so that’s unlikely to happen any time soon

Blue and green should never be seen unless with YELLOW inbetween.

A nice pale yellow!

Pale yellow sounds lovely too!
