Is anyone else's solicitor absolutely useless?

We are buying our first home - a stressful situation at the best of times - not to mention the global pandemic, and to make matters worse my solicitor is an absolute ashl.

Is this normal? Are they all like this? I do keep asking a lot of questions, granted, but she just keeps firing paperwork at me that is full of jargon that I just don't understand. I feel like we are paying them for a service, but she is just making me feel bad all the time and making me feel like I am asking stupid quesitons and being a nuisance.

I want to exchange and complete on the same day - I have made this clear from the off, at first she said we were not in a position to talk about it, and now (she emailed me to say we can start talking dates soon) she has just sent me something from the Law Society that makes no sense.

After this, will I ever need to deal with them again, as I want to leave a not so nice review and it will be very clear that it will be from me.

Fucks sake yes! Not conveyance related but mum went to see one last May for a new will, power of attorney and property first registration. We are now almost a year down the line and property is still not registered. Not complex, deeds held at the Halifax for fifty years.

I have chased about four times, she’s fucking useless.

I've bought 2 houses in my life. Both exchanged and completed on the same day. Hugely stressful but not uncommon.

It would seem that some or many have always been hopelessly slow - hence Victorian novelist Anthony Trollope’s fictional Messrs. Slow and Bideawhile.

The last lot we used for conveyancing were hopeless - it would have taken a stick of dynamite up their collective arse to get anything done.

The bloke dealing with us never even answered emails. I had to make a vociferous complaint to the senior partner and even then nothing much improved.

A dd did use the EA’s recommended sol. for a house purchase in a new area - she knew of no other and had no personal recommendation to go on. I have to say I was dubious, but amazingly enough the whole thing, from offer accepted to getting the keys, was wrapped up in 6 weeks. So I had to eat my doubts, so to speak.

Have had to deal with about 8 solicitors over the last two years for various thing to a man they’ve been fucking expensive and hopeless. All seem to create delays and problems to keep upping their fees. Bunch of crooks.

Solicitors get the blame as do Estate Agents when the delays are often not of their making. My last buyers farted around for ages not understanding, worrying, double checking, wanting indemnities for any and everything. Took forever

Mine was awful until it came to it and she really pulled her finger out
