New window on link detached house

Hi - ours is a linked detached/ detached house (see pic). We are planning to have rear kitchen/diner extension. On doing that our current dining room will become a room in the middle between the front reception and rear kitchen/diner. This room in the middle will be without a window.

I wonder if we can open up Window on the detached left side of the house. Do we need any permissions? There's no shared wall with neighbours. Although it's a narrow alley, at least there will be some window opening for that room.

Keen to hear views. Thank you.

if you mean other side of kitchen, that side is towards the garden

No. I mean moving the door to the toilet so it's where the toilet sink is. So the door is in the hallway not the kitchen.

Move the toilet sink and have door opening to hall

Why not just open up the living room? If you have a separate reception room.

SoupDragon · 25/04/2020 14:27

Exactly like that :) it made me feel uncomfortable seeing the door open right by the kitchen 😂 it seems more private this way.

(Sink might have to go on the short wall but that's a minor detail for ironing out later)

You could get a Sunpipe. We had one in an old terraced house a few years ago. It brought a huge amount of light into the room.
