Kitchen design help please

Looking for a fresh pair of eyes for kitchen design. Have attached suggested layout from IKEA which gives plenty of cupboard space but lacks worktops. Current set up is a bank of units along each main wall and a small table in the middle this means someone has to move from table if access to dishwasher/cupboard is required! Double doors at each end plus single door at bottom right corner makes it trickier to adjust layout

Can barely see the image and can't see any doors?

Where do the two sets of double doors lead? You're not gaining much by having an island with sink and hob in it as it looks as though you've got the whole opposite wall with a window in it which isn't being used. Units could be taken round the corner on the bottom left by the look of things.

I'd look at having the kitchen along both long walls, perhaps leaving the right hand side free for a table if you want, or maybe a peninsula?

If there's a dining room through one of those sets of doors, I'd look at removing the doors and what remains of the dividing wall and creating a bigger kitchen diner.

Hello, thanks for the input. One set of doors leads to garden and other double set leads to hallway. I should have made measurements clearer in initial post. There is no window in the wall you can't see. Current set up is run of units down each side but it's just slightly to narrow to comfortably fit a small table into the middle. Ideally I would like to extend into hallway but would need some structural work and it would be too expensive.

I would definitely want a re-think to create more worktop space.
Have you considered any other kitchen suppliers.
I think Homebase have a system online whereby you can supply dimensions and design your own layout. You probably don’t want their units but you might come up with a different design.
This is too important to be disappointing.
(Yes I know Covid-19 is a bigger issue but a new kitchen is important).

We had a three metre long external wall removed and steels put in for £1500 including structural engineer's calcs and building control certification. It might not be as expensive as you think to gain more usable space.

WHere does the single door in the bottom corner lead to? Is it really needed or is there’s anither way to access that space (eg from the hallway)? Having 3 doors in small room is tricky!

I think I will have to have a rethink. Had been hoping the kitchen design service would come up with a way to make it work without structural work but now thinking I need to remove door and/or wall. Thank you for all your input

Definitely not enough worktop space
You need to think about where you put pans down as well as your prep space
How about cutting into that wall to put either sink or hob? Bit like this. (Mine is similar)

Great minds think alike! We are now thinking we can extend the island slightly and have a sink in the bank of units on the wall similar to this image. We have another appointment with kitchen designer so will see if she has any further suggestions.
