Rust marks from washing machine

Hi I have a Bosch front loader perfectly good machine but under the detergent drawer a piece of the white paint has come off. The look does not bother me but when the machine is in use the water or detergent is slightly spilling out of the drawer (again not a major enough issue for me to bin the machine) and rust marks are coming down the front of the machine and onto the tiles. It's a bu**er to get off any ideas on what I can put over the paint gap to stop this rust running? Pictures attached. Many thanks

I have posted this in housekeeping but unfortunately have not had any responses - apologies for the second post!

What about a car paint? Aren't they designed to prevent rust on cars? I'm just guessing but that's what I'd look at if it was me x

Radiator paint might well do the job slightly better than car paint, but not sure on how car paint deals with the constant knocks etc it will get from being used regularly. Might well be a good idea to take the draw out as well and give it a bit of a clean underneath and check the rubber seal is good as there shouldn't be water running down from there.

White enamel paint which you can buy easily from Ebay or Amazon.

water should not spill out of the drawer. Examine the flat front panel. it is attached to the segmented "drawer" with several rustprood screws. Are any of these screws loose (allowing water to spill) or rusty?

If so, tighten or replace with new. Stainless screws are preferable.

once you have fixed the water problem, pull out the drawer and use a wire brush to remove the rust and loose paint, ensure it is dry, then dab on some "Kurust" rust killer (from Halfords or similar motor accessory shops)

www.halfords.com/motoring/paints-and-body-repair/rust-removal-and-treatment/hammerite-kurust-90ml-412478.html

It is a chemical not a paint. It should turn the rust blue. Once dried you can paint over it with an oil based (not water based) gloss white paint. Household gloss white will do. Ensure it is fully hardened so your thumbnail will not mark it before putting the drawer back in and using the machine. Warm sunlight will help.

I don't recommend the Hammerite paint. It is very difficult to apply neatly; you will not be able to clean it off your brush or fingers, or to paint over it in future, and rust can creep under the edges and grow under the paint film.
