House back on the market....what to do?

Hi, long story short, my partner and I (FTBs) fell in love with a house we viewed in November. We made an offer, 8K above the asking, but did not get it as it went to a higher bidder. I was so gutted, I actually cried. A couple of months later, we saw another house, I did not love it, but thought it had potential. We offered, it got accepted, and then we proceeded with a valuation and homebuyers report. The homebuyers report came back last week and the property just needed way too much work than we wanted to take on (new roof, new windows, rewiring, repointing). We pulled out, especially with everything going on and decided the shelve the whole thing. Now, the first house is back on the market and we really don’t know what to do. Do we leave it, with everything going on, or do we make an offer, even we don’t know 100% if our jobs are safe? But what if this thing ends and we have missed out on this house again?

You could go back and offer asking instead of over for the property you like. It'll all take ages to go through right now anyway so by the time you sort it out you'll know about your jobs more.

Agreed with Troels. You don't always find a house you love. I would first ask the agency why the property is back in the market. They may not disclose everything, but if it sounds reasonable enough, I would make an offer and see what happens next.

I would offer but this time I wouldn't be offering £8K over asking!

yes, I agree that by the times the process moves with the sale, you'll know what's happening generally/with jobs. You've got nothing to lose.
And yes, asking price.

We have agreed at 192K, it’s over the asking of 190K, but not what it initially sold for which was over 200K, plus she has left quite a bit of furniture in there. It’s very very risky, as anything could happen with our jobs, but I am trying not to think about that for now Hmm

Well done I hope the jobs are fine and you get to move in sooner than you think.

@Troels....thank you so much, I am keeping everything crossed!🤞

Mortgages aren't being approved and surveyors have stopped working. Don't think this house move will happen

great - you can still start the legal process.
