If you were about to put the house on the market and now can’t...

...what would you be doing to prepare for when it eventually can go on the market? I mean with a view to getting it in the best/ most saleable state?

I realise it’s now going to go on in a tough/ near impossible market. What can we do to give it the best shot?

Get it valued and take advice from various estate agents re suggested works.
But primarily declutter and clean as a starting point.

Can’t even get it valued now! I might call anyway and have a chat and maybe even see if they’ll do a preliminary FaceTime valuation.

We definitely have to move after this - job offer in public sector. (Were very lucky in that respect, I know.) I am worrying that if the market tanks we’ll have to rent somewhere and pay the mortgage. Very worrying and not long-term sustainable. Hence I want to give us the best fighting chance of shifting it!

We were about to put our house on the market as we are looking to downsize, we cancelled our valuations, no point atm, prices are bound to change given the current economic circumstances. Quite relieved we didn’t move tbh as our family home has a lot of space & a big garden, just what we need facing 12wks isolation.

I think you have to put selling your house on the back burner!!

You could use this time for getting it ready to go on the market when all this madness ends!!

Yep - it’s not going on the market now but hoping we can later in summer. Seems like the only positive thing we can do in the meantime is get it as ‘saleable’ as we can.

If house prices 'tank' that will mean for buying as well as selling so if you are going more expensive you may well benefit.

We were aiming to put ours on the market at the end of the month...we are going to spend more time on the garden, pay the kids to paint the fences etc. I’m also going to spend more time tidying up internal paintwork etc. Then just sit tight and see how things go later in the year.

All the estate agents round here are still open and doing valuations so are you sure yours aren't?
